Industrial Sandblasting

Perfect Surface Preparation

Abrasive blasting, more commonly known as sandblasting, is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, remove rust scale, or remove other surface contaminants.

A pressurized fluid, typically compressed air, or a centrifugal wheel is used to propel the blasting material (often called the media).

Common Blast Media

Copper Slag

Copper slag is a hard, cubical, and aggressive sandblasting media.

Contrary to its name it contains almost no copper!

Nickel Slag

Nickel slag is ideal for the removal of mill scale, rust or existing coatings from steel and other metals in preparation for painting.

Aluminum Oxide

Aluminum Oxide is used on metal, glass, wood and other materials. Its versatility and strength make it a favorite among professionals throughout the industry.

Garnet produces significantly lower dust emissions than other blast abrasives. This means minimal disruption and danger to adjoining operations.

Silicon Carbide

Silicon carbide is the hardest abrasive blasting material available, making it the best choice for your most challenging surface finishing applications.

Walnut Shell

It is the harder of the soft abrasives.

Available in a variety of sizes for blast cleaning and polishing softer surfaces that could incur damage from harsher abrasives.

Glass Beads

Glass is not as aggressive a blasting media as other materials, such as steel shot or silicon carbide. However, it is an excellent choice for applications that require a softer, brighter finish.

Steel Shot

Can be used on a variety of surfaces to effectively remove contaminants, texture a surface for proper adherence of a final coating, or in peening (hardening) applications. The correct size, hardness and shape play a significant role in the proper media selection.
